Soccer Recap: Maryvale Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Maryvale challenged Liberty on Tuesday. The Maryvale Panthers fell just short of the Liberty Lions by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Lions are ranked 11th).

Maryvale is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1. As for Liberty, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

After both having extra time off, Maryvale and West Point will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Liberty has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Ironwood on the 26th.
