Swan Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Croswell-Lexington Pioneers on Thursday as they made off with a 55-35 victory. The Vikings pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pioneers cut but never quite recovered from.

Swan Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jamison Pelt.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Swan Valley, racking up 19 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Pelt, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Swan Valley and Croswell-Lexington will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Vikings will face off against rival Frankenmuth at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. Meanwhile, Croswell-Lexington is set to take on their familiar foe Armada at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
