Softball Recap: Conotton Valley's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 16

Conotton Valley had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Friday. They never let the Frontier Cougars get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. Considering the Rockets have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddison Kelley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delilah Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Gretchin Rolli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Conotton Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frontier only posted a batting average of .000.

Conotton Valley's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Frontier, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conotton Valley will host Dover at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimson Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Frontier, they will face off against Waterford at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
