Softball Recap: Rock Island Drops Season-High Score on Galesburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rock Island). They blew past the Galesburg Silver Streaks 17-0 on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Rocks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lilly McDaniel made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, A'Rion Lonergan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. TJ Sepulveda was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Rock Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rock Island pushed their record up to 21-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Galesburg, they are on a 37-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-32.

Rock Island wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-1 victory against Sherrard on the 16th. Galesburg has also already played their next match (against Washington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
