Recap: Pima Roughriders vs. Tonopah Valley Phoenix
With a playoff game on the line, the Pima Roughriders rose to the challenge on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 57-28 victory over Tonopah Valley. Pima's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Pima's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Martinez , who rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. Tuddy Smart was another key contributor, gaining 137 total yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pima's defense and their 6.5 sacks. In that department, Brock Haws was the leader with four sacks.
When it comes to explaining why Tonopah Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sir-izzik S?nchez caldwell. Despite the final result, he picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Dyllon Croff, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Pima has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.75 points. As for Tonopah Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Pima's homestand continues as they prepare to take on San Tan Charter at 6:00 p.m. on November 18th. San Tan Charter is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Tonopah Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
