Basketball Recap: Schenectady Patriots vs. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans
Schenectady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 59-12 loss at the hands of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-22 back in January.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake found their leader in sophomore Taniyah Monforte, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points along with seven steals and five boards. That's the most steals Monforte has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Larson, who scored 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.
Schenectady's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schenectady will head out to take on Guilderland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Guilderland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they will venture away from home to square off against Saratoga Springs at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
