Baseball Recap: Calaveras Has No Trouble Against Riverbank

Calaveras won the last time they faced Riverbank and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Hawks put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 13-2 win. With that victory, the Red Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Kaeden Hudson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Janssen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Calaveras: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Masson Powers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Calaveras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Calaveras and bumps their season record up to 9-16. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Riverbank, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.
