Softball Recap: Caldera Snags 11th Victory in Last 14 Games

Caldera had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt South Eugene on Wednesday. Caldera put the hurt on South Eugene with a sharp 14-3 win. The result was nothing new for Caldera, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Elie Hall was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Morton, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Caldera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Caldera has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for South Eugene, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

Caldera wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-9 defeat against Lakeridge on the 22nd. South Eugene does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
