Football Game Preview: St. Francis Sharks vs. San Lorenzo Valley Cougars

The St. Francis Sharks will head out on the road to take on the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, St. Francis turned things around against Watsonville on Saturday. They came out on top against the Wildcatz by a score of 21-14.

Max Madrigal was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 64 receiving yards and one score, and also threw for 108 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, San Lorenzo Valley hadn't done well against Scotts Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars secured a 13-7 W over the Falcons. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Falcons on their field since November 3, 2017.

The victory got St. Francis back to even at 3-3. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their record now sits at 4-2.

St. Francis came up short against San Lorenzo Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, falling 16-10. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
