Softball Recap: Lyman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pine Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyman). They blew past the Pine Ridge Panthers 20-5 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jade Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Kaydence Riley was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five stolen bases, and four runs. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in February. Sadie Jacobs was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Lyman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Lyman and bumps their season record up to 6-17. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Pine Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16-2.

Looking ahead, Lyman will head out to square off against Orangewood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Ridge, they will venture away from home to take on Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
