Basketball Recap: Orange Cove Comes Up Short

Orange Cove lost against Corcoran back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Orange Cove Titans were beaten by the Corcoran Panthers 84-49. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 955th, while the Panthers are ranked 296th).

Javon Bragg continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corcoran, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bragg has scored at least a third of Corcoran's points. Izaiah Gonzalez was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points.

Orange Cove's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Corcoran, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Orange Cove will host Granite Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Granite Hills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Corcoran, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Corcoran Panthers challenge the Orosi Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
