Preview: Splendora Wildcats vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns
The Splendora Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Splendora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
After a string of four wins, Splendora's good fortune finally ran out. They had to suffer through a rough 81-50 loss at the hands of Hargrave. While losing is never fun, Splendora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 633rd, while Hargrave is ranked 271st).
Justin Kelley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 23 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Ballah, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Liberty 65-48.
Splendora's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Hamshire-Fannett, they pushed their record up to 21-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Splendora might still be hurting after the 68-44 loss they got from Hamshire-Fannett when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Splendora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
