Baseball Game Preview: Nova Titans vs. Piper Bengals

The Nova Titans will square off against the Piper Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Nova 3.8, Piper 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Nova fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pembroke Pines Charter on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2. The Titans have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Nova saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Boisvert, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Piper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-0 to Coral Springs Charter.

Jonathan Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

Nova's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Piper, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Nova couldn't quite finish off Piper in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 and fell 5-3. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
