Volleyball Recap: Raya Sanders and Aria Moreno Secure Win for Independence + How To Watch

Independence had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Golden Valley on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

While Independence won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 26-24, 25-10.

Leading Independence to victory were Aria Moreno and Raya Sanders. Moreno had 20 digs and one assist, while Sanders had 16 digs. Moreno is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Sofia Amaya, who had 13 digs and one assist.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 15-6-1. As for Golden Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will welcome Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Golden Valley, they will face off against Del Oro at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The match will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
