Softball Recap: Mumford Takes a Loss

Mumford was the 12-6 winner over Holland when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mumford Mustangs fell 5-2 to the Holland Hornets on Saturday. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Hallie Baldwin and Jordan Bucknum stepped up to the plate in a big way. Baldwin scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Bucknum went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. What's more, Bucknum posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Kelsie Rangel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mumford fell to 2-1. As for Holland, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Mumford will venture away from home to take on Burton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holland has already played their next game (against Groesbeck), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
