Basketball Recap: Emilee Bacon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sacred Heart Academy over Southwestern

Sacred Heart Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 54-36 bruising from the Southwestern Trojans. The Sharks were down 45-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilee Bacon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Bacon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games she's played. Carissa Bonvissuto was another key player, putting up six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Sacred Heart Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Southwestern, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Sacred Heart Academy will be playing at home against St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Southwestern, they will host Salamanca at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
