Basketball Game Preview: Dyett Eagles vs. Jones Eagles

The Dyett Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Jones Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Dyett came up short against King and fell 54-47. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Dyett had strong showings from Keyanna Sanderson, who posted 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks, and Rajeh Gardner, who earned 21 points along with seven boards and seven steals. The contest was Sanderson's ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, Jones also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Lane Tech by a score of 58-48. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Champions are ranked 108th).

Dyett now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Jones, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Things could have been worse for Dyett, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-43 loss to Jones in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Dyett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
