Basketball Recap: Elevation Prep Academy Comes Up Short

Elevation Prep Academy played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 92-30 loss at the hands of the Victory Christian Center Kings. While losing is never fun, the Honey Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Kings are ranked 51st).

Defeat or not, Elevation Prep Academy got some senior leadership from HARVEY BEDELL and LONNIE DELOATCH. BEDELL posted 13 points, while DELOATCH scored nine points.

Victory Christian Center's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abubakar Cham, who made all 10 shots he took to post 25 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Cham has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carlos Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

Elevation Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Victory Christian Center, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Elevation Prep Academy will host 1 of 1 Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Elevation Prep Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home dating back to last season, while 1 of 1 Academy has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Victory Christian Center, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-51 victory against Word of God Christian Academy National on the 7th.
