Softball Recap: Gila Ridge Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Gila Ridge put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the San Luis Sidewinders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 12 matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Lillyana Price was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kara Espino, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gila Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Gila Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for San Luis, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Coming up, Gila Ridge will venture away from home to challenge Sunnyslope at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.04 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for San Luis, they will host Skyline at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Sidewinders will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
