Football Recap: Aurora Huskies vs. Pierce Bluejays
Aurora kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 27-21 to the Pierce Bluejays. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 41-28 to the Bluejays when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyatt Pollet, who threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 81 yards. Aurora's leading receiver Canon Allen was Pollet's top target yet again, picking up 131 receiving yards and one TD.
Kaiden Fritz was nothing short of spectacular for Pierce: he rushed for 235 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Fritz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Theisen, who rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown.
Aurora has already played their next game (against McCook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pierce, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
