Basketball Recap: Mt. Lebanon Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mt. Lebanon can now relate to. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Castle Hurricanes on Monday. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hurricanes from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

New Castle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ralphie Blundo led the charge by en route to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Blundo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kai Cox, who on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Mt. Lebanon's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for New Castle, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Mt. Lebanon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Castle, they will face off against Upper St. Clair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Castle's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
