Crete hadn't done well against Beatrice recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Orangemen, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by just one run.

Crete saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Triston Lenhoff, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Lenhoff has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Crete hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beatrice struck out seven times.

The victory made it two in a row for Crete and bumps their season record up to 9-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Beatrice, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Crete will head out on the road to face off against Bennington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Badgers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Beatrice, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plattsmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Orangemen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
