Basketball Recap: Jacobs' Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Jacobs hadn't done well against Cary-Grove recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Jacobs Golden Eagles walked away with a 58-49 win over the Cary-Grove Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Jacobs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samson Averehi out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Averehi has posted since back in December of 2024. Nolan Roper was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points.

Jacobs' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-11. As for Cary-Grove, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacobs will head out to face off against Dundee-Crown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cary-Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Crystal Lake South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
