Baseball Recap: Carter's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Carter made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Northview Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Carter Green Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Northview Academy Cougars an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Green Hornets have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Luke Burnette, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Northview Academy off the board.

At the plate, Cainan Crowe and Trey Painter did most of the damage at the plate: Crowe went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI, while Painter went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Painter launched this season. Kingston Griph was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Carter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Northview Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Carter will have a chance to go back-to-back against Northview Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
