Baseball Recap: Chapin Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Chapin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Burges Mustangs by a score of 11-7. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Nathan Hurtado was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Hurtado was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Flores, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Chapin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 8-13 when he doesn't). Jason Ontiveros was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Chapin lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Chapin's record is now 12-15. As for Burges, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16-2 record this season.
