Football Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Steele Knights

The Johnson Jaguars will take on the Steele Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Johnson is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They walked away with a 17-10 victory over Judson on Friday. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly seven points.

Johnson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Garrison Pope, Stylz Ogden, and Dre Giello picked up one apiece. Giello is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Steele against Canyon on Friday as the team secured a 49-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Johnson better keep an eye on Micah Sheeler. He was instrumental in Steele's win, picking up 160 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Sheeler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DJ Green, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.

Steele's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
