Volleyball Recap: Chequamegon Gets the Win

Chequamegon posted their closest win since September 27th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Phelps Knights 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Screaming Eagles in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Chequamegon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-16, 15-6.

Kaydence McKuen paced Chequamegon's offense, picking up seven kills. McKuen got some help from Jalen Brunell and her 22 assists. Brunell also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Gretchen Eder, each putting up two.

The win got Chequamegon back to even at 17-17. As for Phelps, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-22.

Coincidentally, Chequamegon and Phelps will both be playing Watersmeet the next time they take the court. The Screaming Eagles will head out to face the Nimrods at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
