Preview: University Bulldogs vs. Sterling Tigers

The University Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Sterling Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, University strolled past Brush with points to spare, taking the game 30-15.

It was another big night for Brevon Doss, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Doss really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Dylan Sup also helped out with an impressive 99 receiving yards.

Sterling fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over Arvada on Thursday. Sterling pushed the score to 35-13 by the end of the third, a deficit Arvada cut but never quite recovered from.

Hunter Diamond continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 118 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries. Ayden Gandee was another key contributor, rushing for 53 yards and a touchdown.

University's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.4 points per game. As for Sterling, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: University has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 224.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sterling struggles in that department as they've been even better at 228.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Everything came up roses for University against Sterling when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for University since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
