Football Recap: South Platte Takes a Loss

South Platte played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Southwest Roughriders and fell 59-8. The Blue Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.

Drake Arensdorf threw for 90 yards while completing 72.7% of his passes. Oscar Ornelas was his top target, picking up 70 receiving yards and one score.

Houston Billeter had a dynamite game For Southwest., rushing for 101 yards and three TDs on only six carries, while also throwing for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Billeter a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for South Platte and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Southwest, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

South Platte and Southwest will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Blue Knights will face off against rival Garden County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Southwest is set to square off against their familiar foe Wallace at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
