Softball Recap: Franklin Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Franklin came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the East Henderson Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Suzanna Cabe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Franklin let Ashlyn McConnell and Meliah Mason run wild. McConnell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Mason scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Mason a new career-high. Anna Stiles was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Henderson struck out eight times.

Franklin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Henderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Franklin is set to take on their familiar foe Pisgah at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.4, the Bears 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, East Henderson will challenge rival West Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
