Baseball Game Preview: Livonia Bulldogs vs. Hornell Red Raiders

The Livonia Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Hornell Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Livonia's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Hornell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Livonia is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Wayland-Cohocton just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Livonia saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidan O'Connor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hornell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over Haverling on Wednesday. The game marked the Red Raiders' most dominant win of the season.

Hornell's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Livonia, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 12-4.

Livonia skirted past Hornell 11-9 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
