Baseball Recap: Harker Heights Has No Trouble Against Shoemaker

Harker Heights lost to Shoemaker last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Seth Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gian Martinez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Beeman, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Harker Heights' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Shoemaker, they now have a losing record of 10-11-2.

Coincidentally, Harker Heights and Shoemaker will both be playing Temple the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wolves will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th.
