Preview: Hampton County Hurricanes vs. Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars
The Hampton County Hurricanes just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hampton County will be strutting in after a victory while Ridgeland-Hardeeville will be coming in after a defeat.
Hampton County posted their biggest win since November 20, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Barnwell on the road to the tune of 57-23. The win was just what Hampton County needed coming off of a 65-38 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Ridgeland-Hardeeville came up short against Woodland on Monday and fell 55-47. Ridgeland-Hardeeville has not had much luck with Woodland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaden Exley, who scored 15 points along with four steals, and Denasia Haynes who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Haynes scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Washington, who scored two points along with four blocks.
Hampton County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Ridgeland-Hardeeville, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Hampton County took their win against Ridgeland-Hardeeville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 59-36. Does Hampton County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ridgeland-Hardeeville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
