Soccer Game Preview: Smoky Mountain vs. West Henderson

Smoky Mountain is 2-8 against West Henderson since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m.

Smoky Mountain managed to slip by Franklin the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs came up short against the Panthers on Wednesday, falling 6-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Smoky Mountain came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Franklin are ranked 311th).

Meanwhile, West Henderson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Considering West Henderson have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Crest with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Allison Justus, Lauren Clonch, and Rhylie Druskis.

West Henderson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Smoky Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.
