Football Recap: Columbia Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Columbia extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Xavier Hendon. The Raiders simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Brookside Cardinals 48-14 thanks in part to Hendon, who rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 105 rushing yards per game.

Peyton Liedtke was another key player, rushing for 56 yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 56 yards.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Columbia, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Liedtke, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Columbia's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Brookside, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Columbia will host Oberlin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Phoenix's rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Brookside, they will venture away from home to challenge Clearview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
