Baseball Recap: Crestview Find Success

Crestview proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Seneca East Tigers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 24th.

Carson Keener was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Keener was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Crestview let Kayn Patton and Tyson Ringler run wild. Patton went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Ringler went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ringler has become a key player for Crestview: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Parrigan, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Crestview is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Seneca East, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Coming up, Crestview will face off against St. Paul at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seneca East has already played their next match (against Colonel Crawford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
