Soccer Game Preview: Discovery vs. Ridge Community

The Discovery Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Ridge Community Bolts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Discovery fell victim to Lake Region and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Thunder. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Thunder are ranked 188th).

Meanwhile, Ridge Community kept a clean sheet against Mater Brighton Lakes Academy back in December of 2024. They put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bolts, who have now won six contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Ridge Community pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three games. As for Discovery, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.
