Volleyball Game Preview: Dublin Gaels vs. Dougherty Valley Wildcats

Dublin is a perfect 4-0 against Dougherty Valley since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Gaels will head out to square off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Dublin will be strutting in after a win while Dougherty Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Dublin turned things around against Livermore on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cowboys.

Dublin had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Ramon Valley. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-17 in the first set.

Dougherty Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.

Dublin's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Dougherty Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Dublin skirted past Dougherty Valley 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gaels since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
