Baseball Game Preview: Meadowdale Mavericks vs. Mountlake Terrace Hawks

For the second straight game, Meadowdale will face off against Mountlake Terrace. The Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meadowdale is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Meadowdale and Mountlake Terrace meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Mavericks came up short against the Hawks, falling 8-2.

For Mountlake Terrace's part, Layton Rongholt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. The Hawks are 4-1 when Rongholt allows three or fewer earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cian Harney, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Valdivia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meadowdale's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Mountlake Terrace, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
