Basketball Recap: Kamehameha Kapalama Falls Short Against Ranked Mid-Pacific Institute

On Tuesday, Kamehameha Kapalama faced Mid-Pacific Institute in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Kamehameha Kapalama Warriors took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls. The matchup was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.

Mid-Pacific Institute's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Chizer, who went 9 for 17 en route to 26 points. The dominant performance gave Chizer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Logan Mason, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Kamehameha Kapalama is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, the win got them back to even at 15-15.

Kamehameha Kapalama didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-43 loss against Maryknoll on the 30th. Mid-Pacific Institute has also already played their next game, a 57-56 defeat against St. Louis on the 30th.
