Softball Game Preview: Albany Falcons vs. Shenendehowa Plainsmen

Albany is 0-7 against Shenendehowa since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Plainsmen at 4:45 p.m. Albany has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Albany fell victim to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 22-0 to the Spartans. The Falcons' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Shenendehowa faced Ballston Spa in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Plainsmen narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Scotties 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Plainsmen, who have now won four contests in a row.

Shenendehowa pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
