Softball Recap: Solon Victorious

It's playoff time, and Solon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Wooster Generals on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 back in April.

Grace Gerhard made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Prelog, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Solon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Wooster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Solon is taking a road trip to square off against Riverside at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Wooster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
