Softball Recap: Schurr Spartans vs. Monrovia Wildcats
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schurr). They blew past the Monrovia Wildcats 23-4 on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Sophia De Santiago made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. De Santiago was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mia Gonzales and Samantha Maldonado did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzales fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Maldonado went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Perea, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
