Volleyball Recap: Wynford Royals vs. Bucyrus Redmen
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carey, Wynford was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bucyrus Redmen as the Wynford Royals made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Royals as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
While Wynford won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-6, 25-16.
Wynford was led to victory by Kendall Naufzinger and Makayla Morgan. Naufzinger had 11 digs and four aces, while Morgan had 11 digs and a kill. Naufzinger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
Wynford was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.
Despite the loss, Bucyrus had strong showings from Reese Garvin, who had 20 digs, and Haylee Stratton, who had 18 digs and two kills.
Wynford's record now sits at 7-12. As for Bucyrus, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
Wynford will venture away from home to challenge Ontario at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wynford is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Bucyrus, they will be playing at home against Edison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
