Softball Game Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Oak Park-River Forest Huskies

The Conant Cougars will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Conant proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 12) and two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against York, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 6, 2024.

Ava Falcone was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Wolf, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Oak Park-River Forest put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Manchester. The four-run effort marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Conant's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
