Volleyball Recap: Luther Prep Starts off Right with Win over Columbus

Luther Prep gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Columbus Cardinals. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Luther Prep's got stronger as the match went on, holding Columbus to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-8.

Lorelei Candler paced Luther Prep's offense, picking up ten kills. Candler got some help from Lydia Vasold and her 20 assists. Vasold also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Allison Schupmann, racking up two apiece.

Luther Prep will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Heritage Christian at 6:45 p.m. on September 16. As for Columbus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
