Baseball Recap: Colfax Gets the Win

While Colfax's win against Liberty wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Lancers on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won nine in a row.

Jake Melhus tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Colfax let Emeric Andersen and Erik Christensen run wild. Andersen went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Christensen went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Andersen a new career-high.

Colfax's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Liberty, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Colfax beat the Lancers by a score of 10-0 later that day.
