The Beachside Barracudas will take on the Tocoi Creek Toros at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beachside will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Beachside didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on St. Augustine with a sharp 15-7 win on Tuesday. Considering the Barracudas have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyleigh Kendall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kendall was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Brenna Webb was a standout: she scored three runs while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lily Jurgens was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Beachside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Augustine struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Tocoi Creek came up short against Oakleaf on Tuesday, falling 14-4. The loss continues a trend for the Toros in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Tocoi Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skye Fourman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Tocoi Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Beachside, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Tocoi Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Beachside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Tocoi Creek, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Beachside's hitters?
Beachside couldn't quite get it done against Tocoi Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Will Beachside have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
