Basketball Game Preview: West Shore Christian Academy vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors

After both having extra time off, West Shore Christian Academy and the Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Shore Christian Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

West Shore Christian Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Greenwood last Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. West Shore Christian Academy lost 73-51 to Greenwood. West Shore Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.

While Dayspring Christian Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Covenant Christian Academy last Friday as Dayspring Christian Academy made off with a 57-34 win. The Warriors pushed the score to 45-18 by the end of the third, a deficit Covenant Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.

West Shore Christian Academy better keep an eye on Noah Huxta. He was instrumental in Dayspring Christian Academy's win, going 6 of 10 on his way to 19 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Huxta has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Mellinger, who posted nine points and six steals.

Dayspring Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Dayspring Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for West Shore Christian Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

West Shore Christian Academy beat Dayspring Christian Academy 53-44 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Shore Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
