Basketball Recap: Marietta Comes Up Short

If Marietta was feeling good fresh off their 63-24 takedown of Cristo Rey last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marietta Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 36-35 to the Ellet Orangemen. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Orangemen are ranked 360th).

Marietta's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Ellet, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

The future could be bright for both Marietta and Ellet: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Marietta will try to hand International Sports Academy their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ellet will look to extend East Tech's three-game losing streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
